Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edgar Humperdink! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny DeVito! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Humperdink changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. DeVito tries to avoid it but Humperdink manages to keep hold of a leg and drag DeVito to the ground. DeVito escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Humperdink decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Humperdink working over DeVito with some ground and pound. DeVito looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. DeVito looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Humperdink is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
DeVito is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. DeVito moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. DeVito is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Humperdink with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Humperdink avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Humperdinkis looking to pass into half guard but DeVito pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now DeVito is in guard. DeVito pushing down on Humperdink's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The fighters are battling for position here. Humperdink manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Humperdink looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Humperdink looking for a guillotine here but DeVito defends easily.
Humperdink is breathing heavily. Humperdink looking for submissions from the bottom but instead DeVito passes into half guard.
DeVito seems to be working for a kimura but Humperdink defends the submission attempt. DeVito passes the guard and advances to mount! DeVito looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Humperdink is trying to escape the mount.
DeVito looking to secure an arm triangle but Humperdink defends it well. Humperdink tries to reverse the position but DeVito maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. DeVito fails to move to back control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Humperdink throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Humperdink might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. DeVito looking for a guillotine from mount but Humperdink is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DeVito has hold of Humperdink's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Humperdink manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Humperdink knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DeVito on the ground. Humperdink has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
DeVito is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Humperdink knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Humperdink for a finish. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Humperdink breaks DeVito's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. DeVito looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from DeVito! DeVito is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Humperdink looks calm but he's in trouble here. DeVito gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Humperdink is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! DeVito lets go of the hold and Humperdink can pop his arm back in it's socket.
