PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Lezema (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tigroklaws Demauler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lezema comes to the cage accompanied by Weird Al Yankovic - Fat song. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diego Lezema!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tigroklaws Demauler!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lezema decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Demauler is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lezema seems to be looking for submissions.
Demauler on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lezema tries to pass to full mount but Demauler defends it.
Demauler is looking to control Lezema's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Demauler avoid being mounted?
Lezema is tying to control. Demauler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lezema is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Lezema is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Demauler is staying active underneath Lezema, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Demauler scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Lezema closes the distance and clinches up with Demauler, looking for a takedown. Lezema pushes Demauler against the cage but Demauler circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Demauler scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Demauler misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Demauler should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Demauler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lezema darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lezema is breathing heavily.
Demauler is looking to escape.
Demauler is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Lezema thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Demauler's head.
Demauler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lezema is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lezema prevents Demauler from standing back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lezema throws a looping overhand right but Demauler ducks down to avoid it.

and Demauler counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Demauler gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Lezema lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Demauler ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Lezema clinches up with Demauler and pushes him back against the cage.
Lezema wants to break free but Demauler has control.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Demauler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Demauler uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lezema.

and Demauler counters with a nice uppercut.
Demauler throws a right and a left that Lezema avoids nicely.
Lezema tries to clinch there but Demauler circles away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Lezema shoots in for a double leg but Demauler sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Lezema. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Diego Lezema seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lezema is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Demauler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That was a close round but I would say that Diego Lezema will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Demauler checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Lezema shoots for a double leg takedown but Demauler sprawls well. He's pushed Lezema's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Demauler throws a nice looking combination but Lezema bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Demauler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lezema gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lezema works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Lezema is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Demauler still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Demauler has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Lezema manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Demauler wants to get back to his feet.

Lezema wants to finish this one by submission but Demauler is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lezema.

Demauler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lezema. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lezema is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Demauler is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Demauler flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Lezema anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Demauler and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Lezema slips an arm under Demauler chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Lezema has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Lezema is squeezing on Demauler like an anaconda would it's prey. Demauler fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Diego Lezema!
