1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Wood! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown lands a nice looking body kick. A slapping leg kick lands for Wood.
Brown takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
A head kick misses from Wood. A chopping leg kick lands by Brown. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Brown checks a leg kick. Brown throws a nice inside leg kick. Brown misses with a hook to the body
and Wood counters with a leg kick. Brown takes a swing at Wood's ribcage but misses. Wood misses with a body kick. Nathan Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brown fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wood drives through and clinches with Brown against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wood connects with a knee to the head.
Wood lands with a short shot to the head. Wood is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Brown is keeping busy. Wood with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wood just stands there and leans against the cage. Wood throws a punch but it's blocked by Brown. Brown fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brown turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Brown manages to end up in side control. Brown trying to control the position but Wood is working away. Wood is trying to improve his position. Brown tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brown has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Wood is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. You can see the frustration on Wood's face as Brown controls the position. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Wood is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Brown performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We're going to have a standup here because Tyson Brown wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wood, right into the meat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wood fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Brown is out of range. Brown keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
A clash of legs there as Brown blocks the low kick. Wood tries to close the distance and clinch but Brown swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Brown shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Wood trying to keep a closed guard but Brown is proving a slippery customer.
Brown thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Brown is pushing down on Wood's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wood is fighting to maintain full guard but Brown has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown is trying to control. Wood wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Wood works his way to full guard. Good work. Wood has his hands on Brown's head, controlling the position. Brown trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom. Wood is trying to keep Brown in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Nathan Wood will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Wood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brown paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wood fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Brown. Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wood avoids it really well and circles away. Tyson Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wood misses with a head kick.
Brown throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Brown swats away the attempt to clinch by Wood. Wood tries to clinch but Brown moves out of range. Brown looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wood is fending him off so far but Brown persists. Nope, Wood circles away and we're back to standing. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brown lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wood has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wood and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Wood tries to score with a low kick but Brown moves his leg out of the way.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wood throws a leg kick that misses. A nice inside leg kick there by Wood. That's going to slow Brown down. Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wood is looking to clinch but Brown is avoiding it.
A low kick from Wood misses and Brown counters with a lovely shot to the body. Wood does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Wood lands with a slapping head kick. Brown throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Brown. Crunch! Wood slams his shin into Brown's torso. Wood tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wood looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Wood pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Brown is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wood sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Brown scores with a punch to the head. Brown misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wood.

Brown shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wood throws a sloppy head kick and Brown moves out of range easily. Brown jabs Wood to the body, keeping him at a distance. Wood tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Wood closes the distance and clinches. Brown content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Wood is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Wood is pushing Brown up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Wood goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Wood prevents Brown from breaking the clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wood goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Brown jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wood walks away with a smile on his face. Brown gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Brown moves out of range of the body kick from Wood.
Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nathan Wood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Brown shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wood defends it nicely. Brown misses the shot to the body. Wood throws a low kick but it's checked well by Brown. Wood tries to land a front kick but Brown steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Wood wants to clinch up but Brown keeps it at a distance. Brown throws a body kick that misses. Brown changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wood tries to avoid it but Brown manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wood to the ground. Wood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Brown throws a shot to the body.

The fight stays on the outside here - Wood looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Brown shoots for a takedown but Wood saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wood tries to clinch but Brown moves out of range. Wood throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Brown's head. Wood throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nathan Wood. Brown bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. A looping hook to the body misses from Brown. Wood does a little dance to reset his feet. Brown drives through with a takedown into guard. Brown controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Brown preventing the sweep. Wood keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Brown wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving. Brown wants to pass the guard but Wood is keeping the position. Brown not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Brown had his way with Nathan Wood in that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Wood throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Wood looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Brown fails with a takedown attempt. Brown fails with a takedown attempt. Brown is taking a breather. Wood says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Brown's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Nathan Wood is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
