Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Putzke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putzke comes to the cage accompanied by Nookie. Damian Myers has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Scott Putzke's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scott Putzke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Myers! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Putzke moves in looking to clinch but Myers pushes him off. Myers pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Putzke steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Myers. Putzke shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Myers but Myers pushes him off and we're back to square one. Putzke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Myers swivels and escapes. Myers thuds his shin into the meat of Putzke's side. Putzke tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Putzke moves into range and clinches up with Myers. Myers lands a left hand that snaps the head of Putzke backwards. Myers misses with a short punch on the inside. Putzke is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Myers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scott Putzke. That's going to take a lot out of him. Putzke has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Myers regains guard immediately. Putzke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Myers throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Putzke has one foot on Myers's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Putzke uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Myers. Myers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Putzke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Myers to the mat! Myers manages to get full guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Myers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Putzke is one step ahead there. Myers tries to strike from the bottom.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Putzke is working for a kimura but Myers is defending it quite comfortably.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Myers throws a head kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Myers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Myers trying to control the action but Putzke is working from the bottom. Myers throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Myers is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Putzke has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Putzke tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Putzke's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Myers scores with a couple of short elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Myers lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Putzke is trying to get back to half guard. Putzke defending against the ground and pound. Myers in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Putzke tries to bench press Myers off him but Myers keeps the position. Myers wants to control but Putzke is keeping him busy. Putzke regains half guard. Putzke has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Myers is working away from the top position though. Myers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Putzke is trying to get back to full guard. Myers working the head and body with strikes. Myers wants to pass to mount but Putzke is defending the position. Putzke looks like he's trying to stand up.

Putzke looking to hit a scissor sweep but Myers is one step ahead there. Putzke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Myers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Putzke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Myers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Myers cracks Putzke with a solid left hand. Myers is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Myers slips nicely into half guard. Myers gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Myers gets a clinch. Putzke blocks an elbow strike. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Putzke changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Myers fights it off and pushes away nicely.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Myers looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Myers scoring with strikes to the body and head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Myers is keen to just control but Putzke is a slippery customer. Myers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Myers throwing shots but Putzke is blocking nicely. Myers frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Scott Putzke. I think Myers has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
