Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pete Beaker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamarcus Johnson! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Beaker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now. Johnson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Beaker. Beaker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Beaker sitting in guard, not really doing much. Beaker stopping the sweep attempt from Johnson. Beaker wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position. Beaker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beaker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Beaker working some strikes from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beaker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now. Beaker preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Beaker sitting in guard, not really doing much. Johnson keeping full guard, as Beaker tries to pass. Beaker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johnson!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Johnson tries for a kimura but Beaker is defending well. Johnson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Beaker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beaker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Beaker's legs - danger averted. Beaker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Beaker pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage. Beaker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Johnson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Johnson looks to land a right hand but Beaker moved out of range. Johnson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Beaker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Beaker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Johnson sees it coming and defends easily. Johnson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Beaker. Beaker is looking to stall here but Johnson recovers full guard. Beaker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Beaker throwing strikes but missing. Johnson is pulling down on Beaker's head. It's preventing any offense from Beaker, at least for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet. Beaker is looking to advance position but Johnson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Johnson working for a submission but Beaker is keeping him at bay. Johnson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Beaker manages to avoid the submission attempt. Beaker tries to bench press Johnson off him but Johnson keeps the position. Johnson throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Beaker is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it. Johnson is working Beaker over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beaker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Beaker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back! Even with his hooks in, Beaker manages to miss with strikes from the back. Beaker trying to control momentarily.
Johnson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Johnson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Beaker thows a huge punch but Johnson dodges it nicely.
Beaker is working for a submission of some sort.
Johnson is trying to get back to full guard. Beaker lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Beaker not landing any meaningful shots this time. Beaker is figuring out what he wants to do next. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson is looking to improve his position.
Johnson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Beaker wants to take a breather but Johnson is having none of it. Beaker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Beaker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Johnson tries to get to full guard but Beaker has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Pete Beaker will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Johnson closes the distance and lands a one-two. Johnson misses with a two punch combination.
A combination from Beaker does no damage. Johnson lands a nice looking body shot.

Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Beaker is retaining full guard. Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Johnson defends it easily. Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Johnson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Beaker manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnson has Beaker in his guard. Beaker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Beaker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Beaker is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jamarcus Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Beaker is pressing down on Johnson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Johnson is holding on for now. Beaker is trying to control. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Beaker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Beaker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Johnson defends it well. Johnson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Beaker. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Beaker from controlling successfully. And that's the end of the fight! Pete Beaker showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beaker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
