Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oskari Jokinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jokinen's entrance music is Prodigy - Firestarter. A fine choice. Oskari Jokinen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oskari Jokinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anderson Maia! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jokinen tried to score with a low kick but Maia checks it. Jokinen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Maia shoots and misses and Jokinen counters with a thumping low kick. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Jokinen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jokinen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maia throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jokinen counters with a head kick. Maia shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jokinen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maia slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jokinen managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Maia.
Maia trying to control the action but Jokinen is working from the bottom. Maia just content to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The ground and pound from Maia seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jokinen wants to control but Maia postures up. Jokinen is looking for a sweep. Jokinen is working hard here to advance position. Maia happy to just control the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia trying to control the action but Jokinen is working from the bottom. Maia is trying to ground and pound but Jokinen uses the momentary lack of control by Maia to regain half guard. Jokinen wants to control but Maia is keeping busy and won't allow it. Jokinen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Maia. Maia seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Maia frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Jokinen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Maia with a couple of short strikes. Maia pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Maia trying to control but Jokinen is having none of it. Maia with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anderson Maia dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Maia scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Jokinen throws a push kick but Maia slaps the foot to one side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maia has his takedown stuffed and Jokinen counters with a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jokinen takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Maia looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Jokinen is looking for a sweep. Maia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jokinen trying to control but Maia postures up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Maia is looking for a kimura here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maia is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maia in particular looking to stall. Jokinen manages to get to full guard.
Maia wants to control from the top but Jokinen keeps moving. Jokinen wants to sweep here but Maia controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jokinen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jokinen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Maia thows a big elbow that misses. Maia advances position into side control! Maia postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jokinen is not content to let Maia control the position. Maia looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jokinen is trying to control Maia's posture but Maia avoids it. Jokinen regains half guard, as Maia was trying to land strikes. Maia is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maia working Jokinen over with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anderson Maia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Jokinen misses with a left hand and Maia counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Maia trying to control the position from guard on top but Jokinen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jokinen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Maia wants to control from the top but Jokinen keeps moving. Jokinen is trying to control the position but Maia postures up. Maia is in close to Jokinen's body, working some short punches and elbows. Maia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jokinen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Jokinen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maia is one step ahead there. Maia throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Maia wants to control from the top but Jokinen keeps moving. Maia lands a couple of elbows. Maia is looking to work some ground and pound but Jokinen has wrist control. Oskari Jokinen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Maia distracts Jokinen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Jokinen has his hands on Maia's head, controlling the position. Jokinen is trying to control the position but Maia postures up. Maia engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Maia wants to control from the top but Jokinen keeps moving. Maia throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia looking to sit in guard and control but Jokinen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Jokinen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Maia pulls Jokinen in close to prevent any damage. Jokinen postures up.
Jokinen trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A cross from Maia lands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jokinen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Jokinen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maia misses with a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Anderson Maia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Maia winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
