Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taj Mahal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joey Jones! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mahal tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones throws a body punch but Mahal moves out of range. A shot to the body from Jones misses and Mahal finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Jones does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Mahal scores with a leg kick.
Jones looks gassed! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones scores with a punch to the head. Mahal misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones takes a body punch but keeps moving. Mahal tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mahal tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Mahal moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off. Joey Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mahal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice body punch from Mahal. Mahal throws a sloppy head kick and Jones counters with a stiff right hand. A low kick from Jones misses and Mahal counters with a one-two to the body. Jones avoids the head kick by Mahal.
Jones throws an off balance right hand
and Mahal counters with a good low kick that Jones was not able to check. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mahal dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mahal lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Mahal lands with a slapping head kick. Mahal feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mahal throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily. Jones drops his hands momentarily and Mahal needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Jones just on the top of the head. Jones drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Jones - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Taj Mahal!
