Tapisht comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Evanescence: Bring Me To Life kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Absten Brews has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Absten Brews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vlad Tapisht!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brews gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Tapisht counters with a shoot takedown. Brews fights it but they end up in guard.

Tapisht has gone for a leg lock! Brews slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tapisht's guard.

Tapisht is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Brews wants to control from the top but Tapisht keeps moving.

Tapisht had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brews defends it easily.
Brews makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Tapisht has his foot on Brews's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brews works his way back into a safe position though.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brews stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tapisht swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brews slips nicely into half guard.

Brews is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tapisht doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Brews.

Brews uses his free foot to push down on Tapisht's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tapisht.

Tapisht takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Brews moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tapisht has worked his arm free - good work by Tapisht!

Brews has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Brews wants to clinch up but Tapisht keeps it at a distance.

Brews looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Tapisht!
Tapisht wants to control but Brews is having none of it.

Brews swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Tapisht is now in Brews's guard. A big mistake from Brews there, giving up the dominant position!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tapisht accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Tapisht has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Brews looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Tapisht drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tapisht jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Brews working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tapisht doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tapisht manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Brews is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brews is on top in guard.

Oh but Tapisht is tightening it up a little... Brews has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Brews reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Brews taps out! nice BJJ there by Tapisht!
