Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joey Trigs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, JD Santiago!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Santiago pulls guard.
Santiago being controlled here, momentarily.
Santiago keeping moving, preventing Trigs from controlling successfully.
Trigs engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joey Trigs wasn't doing enough on the ground.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Trigs enables Santiago to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Trigs manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Santiago is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Trigs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Santiago's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Trigs got a little sloppy there for a moment and Santiago has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Trigs has managed to get both his arms back between Santiago's legs - danger averted.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joey Trigs wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Trigs fails with the takedown

and Santiago counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Santiago.
Santiago tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Trigs avoiding damage as Santiago throws knees to the body.
Trigs wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Santiago tries to close the distance and clinch but Trigs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Santiago counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Trigs!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Santiago is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Trigs is surviving well by controlling Santiago's body position as best he can.

You get the feeling that Trigs really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Trigs is desperately trying to improve his position but Santiago has a good base and remains in mount.

Trigs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Trigs keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Santiago wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trigs keeps working.

Trigs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Trigs is nestled in close to Santiago, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Santiago is refusing to be controlled, as Trigs sits in half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

JD Santiago showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Trigs is landing with some decent strikes but Santiago is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Santiago escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Trigs gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

I would just about give that final round to JD Santiago.
