Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Compton!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez throws a low kick but it's checked well by Compton.
Compton tries to land a front kick but Gomez steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Compton, right into the meat.
Compton looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Gomez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Compton throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Gomez is looking to chop away at Compton's legs.
Compton tries to clinch up.
Compton misses with the combination.
Compton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gomez as he jumps to the side.
Gomez stuffs the takedown attempt from Compton. Compton gets slowly back to his feet.
Gomez lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Compton moves in looking to clinch but Gomez pushes him off.
A punch lands to the side of Compton 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Compton throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gomez counters with a leg kick.
Gomez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gomez lands in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Compton wants to stand up but Gomez is controlling him.
Compton looks gassed!
Compton throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Gomez stands up from Compton's guard - Gomez perhaps looking for a knockout.
A jab lands there for Gomez.
Compton tries to clinch but Gomez moves away
and Gomez counters with a nice body shot.
Peter Compton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomez throws a series of strikes that have Compton backpedaling.
Compton is rocked!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Gomez! Compton is backing up but he can't get away as Gomez lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Compton and ends the fight. Great knockout.
