Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Sparks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Walker!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Walker.

Sparks has Walker pressed against the cage, preventing Walker from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Sparks tries a body shot but Walker blocks it.
Sparks lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Walker or not.

Sparks lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Walker backwards.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Walker wants to control from the top but Sparks keeps moving.
Sparks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sparks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Walker is refusing to be controlled, as Sparks sits in half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sparks is looking for a kimura here.
Sparks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Walker throws a hook but Sparks blocks it.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Sparks is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Walker is keeping busy.

No joy there for Sparks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sparks wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Sparks wants to control but Walker is keeping busy.
Walker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Sparks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Walker passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sparks!

Walker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sparks sees it coming and defends easily.
Walker wants to control but Sparks is keeping him busy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sparks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Sparks tries to get to full guard but Walker has control of the leg.
Sparks slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Walker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sparks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Walker has managed to get both his arms back between Sparks's legs - danger averted.
Walker postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Walker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Walker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Walker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Sparks will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
