The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Synnian doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Brooks counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Brooks is looking to work some ground and pound but Synnian has wrist control.
Brooks wants to control from the top but Synnian keeps moving.
Synnian looking for a sweep. Not yet Synnian, not yet.
Brooks is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Synnian throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Brooks escapes and throws Synnian's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Brooks is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Synnian knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Synnian takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Brooks has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Synnian is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Brooks yanks on the arm and Synnian is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Brooks.
