PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tombstone Terry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Terry is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Tombstone Terry has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Tombstone Terry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Bob!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob wants to clinch
and Terry counters with a three punch combo that has Bob backing up. Bob nods at Terry to acknowledge the strikes.
Terry is breathing heavily.
Terry wants to clinch but Bob slips to the side
and Bob counters with a head kick.
Bob scores with a hook to the body. Terry takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bob shoots in looking for a takedown but Terry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bob's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Terry circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bob shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Terry defends it nicely.
Bob tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Terry paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Terry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bob tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Terry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Terry keeps the fight on the outside.
Bob throws a sloppy head kick

so Terry counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Terry postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bob keeping moving, preventing Terry from controlling successfully.
Bob will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Terry stops Bob from standing up.
Terry preventing the sweep.
Terry trying to control the position from guard on top but Bob is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bob wants to stand and escape but Terry is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tombstone Terry.

Terry moves into range and clinches up with Bob.
Bob tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Terry smiles and moves away.
Tombstone Terry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bob.

and Terry counters with a single leg into guard. Bob didn't expect that.
Terry with a flurry of punches that miss.

Terry decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Terry is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bob's half guard.
Well, if Terry is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Terry is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Terry avoids the attempt from Bob to control.
BOOM! Terry connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bob is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Terry avoids the attempt from Bob to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Terry controlling the position easily from mount.
Terry raining down shots from the mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tombstone Terry dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bob misses with a head kick.
Bob shoots for a double leg takedown but Terry sprawls well. He's pushed Bob's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bob tries to close the distance and clinch up but Terry swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bob throws a sloppy head kick and Terry moves out of range easily.

Terry closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bob to the mat! Bob manages to get full guard.
Terry is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Terry throws a big right hand that misses.
Terry won't allow Bob to get back to his feet.
Terry throws and elbow that misses. Bob uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Terry's guard. Nice move by Bob!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bob trying to stand up but can't free himself from Terry's guard.
Terry looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bob is one step ahead there.
Bob throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Terry is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bob trying to control the position from guard on top but Terry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Terry looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bob really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Terry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bob stands up from guard. Let's bang!

and Terry counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Terry lands a body shot in the clinch.
Terry blocks an elbow strike from Bob.

Terry gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bob regains guard.
Bob wants to sweep but no luck.
Bob not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Terry preventing the sweep.
Bob wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Terry manages to pass to side control.
Bob throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bob works his way to full guard. Good work.
Terry trying to control but Bob is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tombstone Terry dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Terry has Bob up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Bob's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bob throws a knee to the head but misses.
Terry avoids a wild elbow strike from Bob.
Bob is trying to push Terry away but Terry has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Bob gets underhooks to prevent Terry's takedown attempt.
Bob fails to pull guard.
Terry has a couple of punches blocked by Bob.
Terry tries to pull guard but Bob holds him up against the cage and eventually Terry drops back down to his feet.
Terry has Bob pressed against the cage, preventing Bob from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bob with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Terry working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Terry manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Terry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bob throws a lazy head kick
and Terry counters with a nice uppercut.

Terry looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bob wants to control but Terry is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bob is not content to let Terry control the position.

Terry is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bob has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Terry is working away from the top position though.
Bob blocking the ground and pound attempt from Terry.
Terry wants to take a breather but Bob is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Terry is working for a kimura but Bob is defending it quite comfortably.
Terry seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bob does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Terry is looking to stall here but Bob recovers full guard.
Bob trying to keep a closed guard but Terry is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Terry stands and throws Bob's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bob is working to avoid the ground and pound but Terry connects with a decent elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Terry landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tombstone Terry showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Terry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
