Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Karl Spatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escobar has chosen Brujeria by La Coka Nostra as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karl Spatz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Escobar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Escobar is looking to work some ground and pound but Spatz has wrist control.
Spatz wants to stand and escape but Escobar is having none of it.
Escobar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spatz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Spatz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Escobar's guard.

Spatz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Escobar is looking for a triangle but Spatz pushes his legs off easily.

Spatz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Escobar, up you get!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Escobar with the ground and pound but Spatz uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Escobar stays in close to Spatz's body and controls the position.

Spatz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Spatz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Spatz wants to stand but Escobar is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Escobar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Escobar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Spatz wants to pass to mount but Escobar is defending the position.

Escobar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spatz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spatz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Spatz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Escobar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spatz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Escobar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Spatz dives on top into guard.

Spatz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Escobar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spatz is one step ahead there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Escobar might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Spatz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Spatz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Escobar is proving hard to escape from.

Spatz wants to control from the top but Escobar keeps moving.

Escobar has his foot on Spatz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Spatz works his way back into a safe position though.
Spatz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Spatz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Escobar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spatz has managed to get both his arms back between Escobar's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Escobar keeping moving, preventing Spatz from controlling successfully.

Escobar looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Spatz has picked Escobar up and slammed him! Escobar can't keep hold of the triangle and Spatz manages to pass to side control!

Escobar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Spatz sees it coming and defends easily.
Escobar is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Spatz reverses the position - he's now on top in Escobar's guard.

Juan Escobar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Spatz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Escobar's calf.
Spatz takes a swing at Escobar's ribcage but misses.
Escobar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Spatz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Spatz is looking to wear down Escobar with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Escobar works his foot free and advances to mount.
Escobar connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Escobar wants to free his trapped foot but Spatz is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Escobar is nestled in close to Spatz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Karl Spatz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Spatz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Escobar pulls his head out easily.

Juan Escobar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Escobar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
