Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fiodor Stavrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janne Maunonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maunonen has chosen Heavy metal kings - King Diamond as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Fiodor Stavrov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Janne Maunonen! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stavrov throws a body kick the misses and Maunonen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A swing and a miss from Stavrov. Stavrov misses with a lunging right hand
and Maunonen counters with a nice leg kick. Stavrov moves out of range of the leg kick from Maunonen. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maunonen connects with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stavrov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maunonen sprawls well initially but Stavrov persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Maunonen is pressing down on Stavrov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Stavrov wants to pass the guard but Maunonen is keeping the position. Stavrov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Stavrov wants to control from the top but Maunonen keeps moving. Maunonen wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maunonen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Stavrov looking to pass the guard. Maunonen is trying to control the position but Stavrov postures up. Stavrov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Maunonen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Stavrov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maunonen swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Maunonen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stavrov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stavrov is looking to work some ground and pound but Maunonen has wrist control. Stavrov throwing strikes from guard but Maunonen blocks nicely. Maunonen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stavrov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stavrov's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Maunonen is working an open guard so Stavrov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stavrov throws a leg kick and Maunonen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Stavrov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Maunonen's half guard. Stavrov passes to full mount! Maunonen is looking to get to half guard. Maunonen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fiodor Stavrov dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Maunonen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stavrov's guard. Maunonen postures up and lands a big shot to Stavrov's brow. Maunonen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stavrov is keeping the position for now. Stavrov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Stavrov is trying to control the position but Maunonen postures up. Maunonen wants to control from the top but Stavrov keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maunonen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Maunonen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Stavrov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Maunonen stopping the sweep attempt from Stavrov. Maunonen with a flurry of punches that miss. Stavrov tries to land a sweep but no joy. Maunonen is in close to Stavrov's body, working some short punches and elbows. Stavrov wants to control the position but Maunonen says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Maunonen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Maunonen lands a nice short elbow. Maunonen uses his free foot to push down on Stavrov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stavrov. Stavrov avoids a series of strikes thrown by Maunonen.
Stavrov is bucking up trying to escape but Maunonen cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Maunonen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Stavrov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Stavrov! Maunonen keeping moving, preventing Stavrov from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stavrov stopping the sweep attempt from Maunonen. Stavrov wants to control from the top but Maunonen keeps moving. Stavrov is stalling in the full guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Fiodor Stavrov wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Maunonen shoots for a takedown but Stavrov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. A low kick from Stavrov is predictable there and Maunonen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Stavrov is lucky that one didn't land flush. Stavrov throws a leg kick and Maunonen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stavrov won't be happy with that. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Janne Maunonen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Maunonen lands a two punch combo.
Maunonen rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Stavrov counters with a slapping leg kick. Stavrov throws a lazy uppercut
and Maunonen counters with a right hand to the body. Stavrov throws a right hand that misses
and Maunonen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Maunonen feints and then cracks Stavrov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Stavrov down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maunonen looks to score with a jab to the body but Stavrov is just out of range. Maunonen shoots in for a takedown but Stavrov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Stavrov misses with a body shot.
Maunonen wants to slow Stavrov down by chopping away at his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Maunonen jabbing away but nothing is landing. Maunonen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Stavrov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Maunonen counters with a thumping low kick. Stavrov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Janne Maunonen has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maunonen misses with an uppercut
and Stavrov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Maunonen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Stavrov tries to buck Maunonen off but Maunonen is having none of it. Stavrov is not content to let Maunonen control the position. Maunonen in side control, throwing shots but Stavrov defends.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stavrov manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Stavrov tries to pass to full mount but Maunonen defends it. Stavrov is working for a submission of some sort.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stavrov in particular looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Fiodor Stavrov showed his dominance in that final round. I think Stavrov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
