Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Capone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Shoryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Shoryu's choice of entrance music: Undertaking the Work of the Lord by Hatewire. Ken Shoryu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Al Capone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ken Shoryu! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shoryu shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Capone eats them both and turns towards Shoryu to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Al Capone has been cut. Shoryu lands a nice leg kick that just misses Capone's sensitive parts. Capone slips a jab and a cross from Shoryu.

Capone bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Shoryu throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Shoryu missing with a left hand there. Capone was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Shoryu throws an off balance right hand
and Capone counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Capone wants to pass the guard but Shoryu is keeping the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Capone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Capone is looking to work some ground and pound but Shoryu has wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Capone wants to pass the guard but Shoryu is keeping the position. Capone is working hard here to advance position. Capone postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Capone tries to free his leg and advance position but Shoryu is retaining full guard. Capone prevents Shoryu from getting back to his feet. Capone trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Shoryu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Capone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Capone scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Shoryu avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Capone stands and throws Shoryu's legs to the side, diving into side control. Capone thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Capone creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shoryu can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Capone trying to control the position but Shoryu is working away. Shoryu is trying to buck Capone off. Capone lands a nice forearm strike. Capone misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Capone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Capone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shoryu is trying to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Capone is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shoryu has escaped the position, nice work there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Capone wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shoryu, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Capone is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shoryu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Capone scores with a couple of short elbows. Capone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Capone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Capone working the ground and pound. Capone is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shoryu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Shoryu tries to bench press Capone off him but Capone keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Capone wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shoryu, who protects the arm well. Capone working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Capone is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shoryu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shoryu tries to escape but Capone is in control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Capone trying to control the action but Shoryu is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Capone dominated that round. The cut man is working on Al Capone's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Shoryu lands with a slapping head kick. Shoryu throws a lazy uppercut
and Capone counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shoryu! Capone goes for an armbar but Shoryu turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Shoryu. Capone trying to keep a closed guard but Shoryu is proving a slippery customer.
Shoryu is looking to stand up but Capone won't let him. Shoryu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Capone uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Shoryu misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Capone counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Shoryu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shoryu thows a body shot but no joy. Shoryu throws a head kick that half lands.

and Capone counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Shoryu misses with a head kick.
Shoryu lands with a nice body kick. Capone swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shoryu fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Capone. A head kick from Shoryu lands but Capone takes it in his stride. Capone throws a hook but Shoryu blocks it. Ken Shoryu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shoryu lands a jab to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shoryu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Shoryu throws the kick towards the body but Capone avoids it. Shoryu misses with a lunging right hand

Shoryu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shoryu swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Capone counters with a nice uppercut. Capone uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shoryu.

and Capone counters with a takedown into side control. Capone advances to mount. Capone fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Capone working Shoryu over with strikes here. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Capone raining down hammerfists from mount. Capone landing strikes, looking to finish! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shoryu is breathing heavily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Capone moves to back control. Shoryu wants to get back to his feet. Capone is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Capone gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Capone gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Capone apologises and we restart here on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Capone dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Al Capone's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick by Shoryu misses enabling Capone to counter with a crisp jab. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. Shoryu throws a combination that misses and Capone counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Shoryu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Capone cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Shoryu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Capone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shoryu moves away. Shoryu throws the kick towards the body but Capone avoids it. Shoryu throws a wild body kick that Capone sees coming a mile off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Capone shoots in and bounces Shoryu off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Al Capone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Capone passes Shoryu's left leg - he's now in half guard. Capone stops Shoryu from getting back to his feet.
Capone trying to mount his opponent but Shoryu defends it. Capone looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Capone is looking to take a break and control but Shoryu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Capone uses his free foot to push down on Shoryu's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shoryu. Capone working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Capone wants to take Shoryu's back but he can't do it this time. Shoryu is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Shoryu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Capone has control of Shoryu's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shoryu regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Capone is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shoryu can do to turn this around? Shoryu is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Capone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Capone fails to advance to Shoryu's back. Shoryu is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Capone jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Shoryu manages to avoid the submission attempt. Ken Shoryu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Capone cracks Shoryu with a big right hand but Shoryu just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Capone is working to tighten is grip on Shoryu's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Shoryu has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Capone is really squeezing tight and eventually Shoryu passes out! Capone breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Al Capone!
