PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole has chosen Michael Cole's Entrance music as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Cole!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole throws a body punch but Brown moves out of range.
Mark Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cole.
Cole misses with a hook to the body

and Brown decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cole's guard.
Brown with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Cole throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cole is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cole can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brown controls the pace.

Cole is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Brown not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cole preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Brown working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cole's head.
Brown content to stall in guard here.

Brown got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cole has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brown has managed to get both his arms back between Cole's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cole is trying to control the position but Brown postures up.

Cole working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brown doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brown manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Brown slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Cole is trying desperately to improve position.

Cole wants to hold on but Brown pushes him away.

Cole tries to reverse the position but Brown maintains control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cole is trying desperately to improve position.
Cole is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Brown controlling from mount.
Cole tries to hold on but Brown pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Brown dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Brown pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Cole back to the cage. Brown follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Brown goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


Cole is rocked!
Brown dances in with a quick combination. Cole is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Brown snaps Cole's head back. Cole stumbles backwards against the cage. Brown steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Cole's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Cole just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mark Brown!
