Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robbie Jackson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson shoots in and gets a takedown into Hughes's guard. Jackson preventing the sweep. Hughes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hughes manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hughes moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jackson has worked his arm free - good work by Jackson!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes scoring with punches and elbows. Hughes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hughes swings around for an armbar but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hughes's guard. Jackson wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hughes wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hughes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jackson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jackson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hughes pushes a forearm under Jackson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Jackson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
