The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Chen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Buonarroti Simoni throws a hook to the side of Chen's head but Chen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Chen counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Buonarroti Simoni moves away.
Chen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chen wants it to stay on the feet.
Chen is looking to wear down Buonarroti Simoni with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Buonarroti Simoni connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Chen's hands.

Buonarroti Simoni drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Buonarroti Simoni jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Buonarroti Simoni has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Buonarroti Simoni accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Chen wants to clinch but Buonarroti Simoni slips to the side
and Buonarroti Simoni decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chen's guard.

Buonarroti Simoni takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Buonarroti Simoni on the ground.

Chen is rocked!
Buonarroti Simoni postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Chen in real trouble here! The ref calls for Chen to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
