Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Bandro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Eduardo! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bandro is looking to chop away at Eduardo's legs. Eduardo lands a big head kick that sends Bandro tumbling to the mat! Eduardo takes a step backwards and waves Bandro back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Bandro is rocked!
It looks like Lucas Bandro has been cut. Eduardo darts in and clinches Bandro up against the ropes. Oh Bandro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Eduardo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Eduardo moves into the clinch. Eduardo landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Bandro seems to have got his legs back now. Eduardo breaks from the clinch.
Eduardo scoring well with a low kick there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A head kick by Eduardo misses and Bandro counters with a takedown into side control. Bandro trying to control the action but Eduardo is working from the bottom. Bandro is breathing heavily. Eduardo wants to control but Bandro postures up. Eduardo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Eduardo performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eduardo throws a strike but Bandro avoids it easily and moves to full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Eduardo controls from within his opponent's guard. Eduardo passes Bandro's left leg - he's now in half guard. Eduardo not doing much here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Eduardo works his way into side control. Eduardo tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eduardo remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Eduardo decides to stand back up. Bandro takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Eduardo throws a shot to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Eduardo throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Eduardo tries a head kick but it misses.
Carlos Eduardo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Eduardo lands a big head kick that sends Bandro to the canvas! Eduardo follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
