PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rob Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Ekenbladh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Ekenbladh!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ekenbladh but Ekenbladh pushes him off and we're back to square one.

It looks like Rob Pain has been cut.
Pain has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ekenbladh is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Pain manages to break the clinch.
Pain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ekenbladh but Ekenbladh pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Pain. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ekenbladh takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Pain has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ekenbladh uses from the top position.

Ekenbladh is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pain can't fight it off and eventually Ekenbladh manages to take the fight to the floor. Pain looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ekenbladh is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Pain working over Ekenbladh with some ground and pound. Ekenbladh looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Pain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pain controlling the pace.
Pain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Rob Pain will probably get the nod.

That's time! Pain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pain closes the distance and clinches up with Ekenbladh, looking for a takedown. Pain pushes Ekenbladh against the cage but Ekenbladh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pain shoots for a double leg takedown but Ekenbladh sprawls well. He's pushed Pain's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nice sprawl there from Ekenbladh as Pain shoots in.
Pain takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


Pain is rocked!
Ekenbladh connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Pain tumbling to the canvas! Ekenbladh pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Pain was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Daniel Ekenbladh!
