Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Cooper!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields tries to clinch up but Cooper circles away and keeps his distance.
Cooper keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shields.

Shields clinches up against the cage.
Cooper prevents the takedown attempt.

Shields decides to pull guard.
Shields wants to sweep but no luck.
Cooper wants to control from the top but Shields keeps moving.
Cooper tries to free his leg and advance position but Shields is retaining full guard.

Cooper stands up from Shields's guard - Cooper perhaps looking for a knockout.

Shields darts in and clinches Cooper up against the cage.
Cooper fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Cooper wants a takedown but no success here.
Cooper has Shields pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Shields manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Peter Shields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Cooper.
Cooper swings wildly with an uppercut but Shields uses good head movement to avoid it.

Cooper is trying to control the position but Shields postures up.
Shields has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cooper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shields postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Shields throws and elbow that misses. Cooper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shields's guard. Nice move by Cooper!

so Cooper counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Shields wants to improve his position but Cooper is controlling well.

Cooper frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Shields tries to reverse the position but Cooper maintains control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cooper trying to control but Shields is having none of it.
Shields bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Shields wants to pass the guard but Cooper is keeping the position.

Shields gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Shields pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shields throws a head kick that misses.
A punch combination from Shields misses.

Shields misses with a double jab
and Cooper counters with a nice uppercut.
Shields tries to clinch up but Cooper circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Cooper will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Shields misses with a few strikes there.

Shields drives through and clinches with Cooper against the cage.
Shields changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cooper fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Shields is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Cooper.
Peter Shields is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Shields moves into range and clinches up with Cooper.
Shields has Cooper pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cooper manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Shields can't get the takedown.

Cooper is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Shields tries a head kick but it misses.
Cooper fails to land the takedown.
Shields wants to clinch up but Cooper keeps it at a distance.
Some bone on bone action there as Shields checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Shields has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cooper is trying to keep an underhook but Shields manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Shields thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cooper's head.

Shields is landing with some decent strikes but Cooper is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Cooper is rocked!
Cooper takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Shields's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
