Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joao Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sully Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Costa's entrance music is The Coasters - Down In Mexico. A fine choice. Silva has chosen Can't Believe as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joao Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sully Silva! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Costa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Silva lands a big uppercut and Costa crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Costa looks OK.
Costa is rocked! Costa tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg. Oh Costa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Silva controlling the pace. Costa looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Costa seems to have got his legs back now. Costa throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Costa wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva content to control rather than advance. Costa trying to control but Silva postures up.
Silva performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Let's hope that Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa is looking to control Silva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Costa avoid being mounted? Costa is looking to improve his position.
Silva controlling the action here. Costa gets back to full guard.
Costa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Silva sitting in guard, not really doing much. Costa had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Silva is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Costa Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Silva's back instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Costa is breathing heavily. Silva tries to roll over but Costa keeps him under control. Costa stalling away here and it's allowed Silva to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Costa trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Costa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Costa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Silva wants to sweep here but Costa controlling him for the moment. Costa throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Costa's guard. Costa is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Silva working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Costa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Silva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Silva decides to take the fight back to the feet. Silva takes a kick to the side of the head. Costa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away. Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Costa sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there. Costa is pressing down on Silva's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Costa lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Silva! Costa wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely. A nice elbow there by Costa. Costa fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Silva tries to hold on but Costa postures up. Costa trying to control but he's not successful this time. Costa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. This has been an exciting period of action! Costa trying to control but Silva is having none of it. Costa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Silva looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sully Silva dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Costa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away. Costa fails with a takedown attempt. Silva fails with a takedown attempt. Costa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Costa didn't expect that. Costa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silva escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Costa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Costa swats him away and circles back towards the center. Silva slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Left hook, right uppercut from Silva. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Costa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Costa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Silva controls Costa momentarily but Costa frees himself. Costa is pushing down on Silva's leg trying to pass to half guard. Silva is fighting to maintain full guard but Costa has managed to sneak the leg through. Sully Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa sitting and controlling from the half guard. Costa passes the guard and advances to mount! Silva is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Costa jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Silva manages to avoid the submission attempt. You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Silva stops Costa from passing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Silva tries to bench press Costa off him but Costa keeps the position. Costa trying to control the position but Silva is working away. Silva manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Costa prevents Silva from improving his position. Costa wants to pass the guard but Silva is defending well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Costa as he jumps to the side. Joao Costa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sully Silva. Costa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Silva sprawls well initially but Costa persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Costa tries to pass to full mount but Silva defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Costa is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Silva! Costa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Costa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape. Silva wants to hold on but Costa pushes him away. Silva is squirming around, avoiding Costa's attempts to control the action. Costa is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Costa!
