Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Darwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darwin lands with a nice combination. Maia backs away looking to recover.
Maia doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Darwin counters with a single leg into guard. Maia didn't expect that.

Maia looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Maia has his foot on Darwin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Darwin works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Darwin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Maia is looking to sinch up a triangle. Darwin throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Maia's body to avoid the submission. Maia has instead reached around Darwin's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Maia arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
