Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tony Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Vojtila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a combination that misses
and Vojtila counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Vojtila controlling from the top position.
Vojtila stands up from Thompson's guard - Vojtila perhaps looking for a knockout.
Thompson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Vojtila counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vojtila.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thompson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vojtila doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vojtila manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Vojtila not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Thompson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vojtila defends it easily.
Vojtila tries to free his leg and advance position but Thompson is retaining full guard.

Thompson has his foot on Vojtila's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vojtila works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thompson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vojtila gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Thompson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vojtila on the ground.

Vojtila has hold of Thompson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thompson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Thompson wants to hold on but Vojtila pushes him away.
Thompson really wants to buck Vojtila off and get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You get the feeling that Thompson really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Vojtila is landing with some decent strikes but Thompson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Thompson bucks up and throws Vojtila to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Vojtila changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thompson tries to avoid it but Vojtila manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thompson to the ground. Thompson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Vojtila shoots in for a takedown but Thompson shows good takedown defense.

and Vojtila decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Thompson's guard.
Vojtila decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thompson, up you get!
Vojtila is trying hard to land a takedown here. Thompson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Vojtila shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thompson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thompson slaps away a takedown attempt from Vojtila, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Thompson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Vojtila clinches up with Thompson and pushes him back against the cage.

Thompson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vojtila shoots in and bounces Thompson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Thompson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vojtila accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Let's hope that Vojtila has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Vojtila has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Thompson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Thompson is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Vojtila off. It looks like it's working - Vojtila slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Thompson displaying calm under pressure there.
Vojtila has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
