Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Ready!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ready throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
King dives in and grabs Ready's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ready pushes down on King's head and hops out.
King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ready as he avoids it easily.
King fails to land with a series of punches.
King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ready manages to avoid it.
Ready misses with a hook.
King dives in and grabs Ready's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ready pushes down on King's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nolan King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King thows a leg kick but Ready checks it

and Ready moves into the clinch.
Ready misses with a knee strike.
Ready using the Thai plumb to throw knees but King has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ready takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ready has King pressed against the cage, preventing King from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
King tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ready smiles and moves away.
King throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ready stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

King decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

King is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ready is trying to get back to full guard.
King keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ready can do anything to dispel that myth.
King tries to pass to full mount but Ready defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ready holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Ready wants to get back to his feet.
Ready is refusing to be controlled, as King sits in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nolan King wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Ready throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ready stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ready wants it to stay on the feet.

King tries to pull guard but Ready holds him up against the cage and eventually King drops back down to his feet.

King jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ready walks away with a smile on his face. King gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

so King counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ready wants to stand and escape but King is having none of it.
King wants to control from the top but Ready keeps moving.
King really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ready has his hands on King's head, controlling the position.
King preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
King tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ready sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten King somewhat.

Ready swinging wildly here.

King stops Ready from standing up.
Ready really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
King misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King fails to land the takedown.
King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nolan King dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and King counters with a single leg into guard. Ready didn't expect that.

King stands and throws Ready's legs to the side, diving into side control.
King in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Ready swinging wildly here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

King drives through and clinches with Ready against the cage.
King is trying to force a seperation but Ready has the dominant position.
Ready connects with a nasty looking knee right to King's face.
King fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
King looking to stall.

Ready breaks from the clinch.
King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ready as he avoids it easily.

King scores with a takedown into Ready's guard.
King trying to control but Ready is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ready has King pulled in close to control his posture.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ready swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ready keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Nolan King wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ready tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away.
King avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ready wants to clinch up but King keeps it at a distance.

King closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

King has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
