Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenshi Zuko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Zuko's choice of entrance music: The Writ. Roy Nelson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenshi Zuko!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zuko counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Zuko.
Zuko misses with a straight right.
Zuko is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nelson.
Zuko pivots, looking for a leg kick but Nelson is out of range and Zuko settles back down.
Nelson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Nelson throws a predictable looking body shot
and Zuko counters with an outside leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A punch combination from Nelson misses.
Zuko jabs Nelson right on the nose. Nelson blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Roy Nelson has been cut.
Nelson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zuko counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Zuko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nelson.
Nelson misses with a right hand
and Zuko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nelson doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Zuko counter with a right hand.


Nelson is rocked!
Nelson is breathing heavily.

Zuko waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Nelson.
Zuko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Zuko shoots in but no luck this time.
Nelson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nelson tries for a takedown but Zuko circles away easily
and Zuko counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nelson fails to land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from Nelson.
Nelson throws a lazy uppercut
and Zuko counters with an inside leg kick.
Zuko throws a quick inside leg kick.

Zuko shoots in and gets a takedown into Nelson's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Zuko gets to his feet - Nelson follows without any prompting.

Zuko closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zuko lands a nice uppercut.
Nelson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Zuko lands a shoulder strike.
Nelson is trying to stall.
Nelson tries to break the clinch but Zuko is controlling the position.
Nelson looking to slow down the pace here.
Zuko lands with a left to the head.
Zuko leaning his opponent against the cage.
Zuko scores with an uppercut up the middle.


Roy Nelson's cut is getting worse.

Nelson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zuko keeps control of Nelson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Nelson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Zuko changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nelson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nelson takes one to the side of the head.
Zuko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nelson moves away from the strike by Zuko.
Zuko moves into range and connects with a jab.

Zuko gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Zuko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Zuko darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Roy Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Zuko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Zuko.


Roy Nelson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

enabling Zuko to counter with a crisp jab.
Oh Nelson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nelson throws a combination that misses
and Zuko scores with a counter punch that sends Nelson to the canvas! Zuko smells blood - he's punishing Nelson with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Nelson has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenshi Zuko!
