Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rene Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shawn Powers will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shawn Powers! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Powers holds on and takes a little breather. Powers working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Perez. Powers utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Perez trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom. Perez preventing the sweep. Powers seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Perez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Perez trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom. Perez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Powers on the ground.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Powers scores with a takedown into Perez's guard. Perez looking to control but Powers passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Perez tries to hold on but Powers postures up. Powers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Perez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Perez and Powers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Powers is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Perez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Powers trying to control the position but Perez is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Perez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Powers's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Powers wants to control but Perez is keeping him busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Powers is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perez defends it well. Perez is trying to maintain the position but Powers is very close to passing his half guard. Powers looking for a submission but Perez manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Perez has control of Powers's left arm, preventing Powers from doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Shawn Powers will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Powers throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Powers has his takedown stuffed and Perez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Powers's guard now. Powers keeping moving, preventing Perez from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez throwing strikes but missing. Powers wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Powers being controlled here, momentarily. Perez wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position.

Rene Perez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Powers throws a low kick, looking for Perez's leg but Perez calmly moves out of range. Shawn Powers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Perez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Powers to the ground. Perez is now in Powers's guard. Perez wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position. Perez trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom. Perez throws and elbow that misses. Powers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Perez's guard. Nice move by Powers! Powers is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers stopping the sweep attempt from Perez. Perez is working hard here to advance position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Perez pulls Powers in close to his closed guard and prevents Powers from doing any damage or advancing position. Perez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Powers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Perez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rene Perez dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Powers with a poor takedown and Perez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Powers won't be happy with that. Perez is working Powers over with some ground and pound from side control. Powers takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Perez throws an elbow but Powers slips to the side and avoids it well. Perez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Powers some visible discomfort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Powers takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Perez misses with the ground and pound. Powers avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Perez. Rene Perez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Powers regains half guard, as Perez was trying to land strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Perez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Perez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Powers defending well though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Perez slips a nice elbow through Powers's hands, connecting with Powers's forehead. Perez lands strikes from half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Perez lands a nice short elbow. Powers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Perez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Powers's head. Perez is looking to advance position but Powers won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perez moves nicely into side control. Perez slows the pace down. Perez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powers keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Perez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Powers is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Perez cracks Powers with an elbow. That is naaassty. Powers is trying to get back to half guard. Perez fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ground and pound from Perez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Powers is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
And that's the end of the fight! Rene Perez showed his dominance in that final round. Well Perez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
