Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Salvador Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lance Bass is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Bass! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bass scores with a takedown into Soto's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bass throwing strikes but missing. Bass has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Bass trying to control the position from guard on top but Soto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bass in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Soto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Salvador Soto has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Bass fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Soto misses with a short punch on the inside. Soto can't find room to land a body shot as Bass controls the action.
Bass looking for a takedown. Bass tightens his grip and picks Soto up, before dumping him to the ground. Soto manages to land in guard. Soto utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Soto wants to sweep here but Bass controlling him for the moment. Soto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Soto tries to get out of the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Soto is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Soto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bass is one step ahead there. Soto is working hard here to advance position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Soto working a defensive guard here.
We're going to have a standup here because Salvador Soto wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Bass closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Bass is looking to take a break and control but Soto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bass not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Bass thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Soto's head. Soto is trying to get back to full guard. Bass seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Soto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Bass wants to work for an arm triangle but Soto is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Soto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Soto is trying to get back to full guard. Soto could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bass throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soto tries to get to full guard but Bass has control of the leg. Soto trying to hold on to Bass's head to control him but Bass postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Soto is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bass off and has taken his back! Soto is controlling the position but Bass somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Lance Bass dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Bass throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Soto was covering up waiting for the punch and Bass finishes the takedown easily into guard. Soto wants to sweep here but Bass controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soto is trying to control the position but Bass postures up. Bass is working Soto over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Bass scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Bass keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Soto's head. Bass postures up.

Soto throws a strike there. Bass manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Lance Bass has got the better of the ground game so far. Soto is thwarting Bass's attempts to control the position. Bass regains full guard. Nicely done. Soto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bass swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bass has Soto pulled in close to control his posture. Soto trying to control but Bass is working from the bottom. Soto looking to sit in guard and control but Bass gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Soto working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Bass preventing the sweep. Bass with a nice head shot there.
Salvador Soto's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Salvador Soto's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
