Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cory Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sampson Kesler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sampson Kesler!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kesler moves in looking to clinch but Scott pushes him off.
Kesler looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Scott is looking to clinch.
Scott misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kesler moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Sampson Kesler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kesler clinches but Scott breaks the clinch

so Scott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kesler being controlled here, momentarily.
Scott has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Scott won't allow Kesler to get back to his feet.
Kesler is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kesler wants to get back to his feet but Scott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Scott will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Scott advances position into side control!
Scott gets to mount! Kesler was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Kesler wants to control but Scott is having none of it.
Scott controlling his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Cory Scott just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Some wild striking there from Kesler.
Scott stalks Kesler and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kesler's face. Kesler staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Sampson Kesler has been cut.
Scott is looking to clinch but Kesler is avoiding it.
Kesler tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Scott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kesler's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Scott passes into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Scott controlling the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kesler tries to clinch but Scott moves out of range.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt.
Scott checks a low kick from Kesler.
Kesler throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Scott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kesler's guard.
Scott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kesler is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Scott keeping moving, preventing Kesler from controlling successfully.
Kesler looking to sit in guard and control but Scott gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Scott slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Scott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott wants to pass the guard but Kesler is keeping the position.
Scott won't allow Kesler to sweep him here.

Scott stands and steps away. Kesler gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Scott throws a hook but Kesler avoids it easily.
A punch combination from Scott misses.
No joy there for Scott, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kesler falls off balance throwing a combination

and Scott counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Scott seems content to control.
Scott's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kesler tries to roll over but Scott keeps him under control.
Kesler trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Scott sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Cory Scott just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Kesler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Scott tries to clinch there but Kesler circles away.
Scott shoots in but Kesler avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Scott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Sampson Kesler's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Scott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kesler working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Scott has passed into half guard!

Kesler wants to get back to full guard.
Kesler is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kesler tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Scott manages to move to mount!

Kesler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kesler tries to buck Scott off but Scott takes his back!
I would not like to be Kesler right now.
Kesler trying to control the position but Scott manages to sink in the hooks.
Kesler is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kesler looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
cage is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Kesler.
Scott seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kesler for as long as he can get away with.
Kesler just trying to survive but Scott is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Scott is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kesler as he jumps to the side.
Kesler staying out of range there.
Kesler swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kesler swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Scott counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kesler is looking to control Scott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kesler avoid being mounted?
Scott passes to full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Scott controlling the position easily from mount.
Sampson Kesler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kesler is trying desperately to improve position.
Scott avoids the attempt from Kesler to control.
Scott controlling his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cory Scott showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Scott has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
