Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Lakanik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raylan Givens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Givens has chosen When The Wild Wind Blows as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Lakanik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raylan Givens!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Givens fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lakanik is out of range.
Givens throws an off balance right hand
and Lakanik counters with a nice low kick that buckles Givens's knee momentarily.
Lakanik throws a sloppy head kick and Givens moves out of range easily.
Givens checks a low kick from Lakanik.
An inside leg kick from Lakanik misses.
Lakanik defending well as Givens loads up on a big left hand.
Lakanik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Givens but Givens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lakanik throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Givens stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Givens has his takedown stuffed
and Lakanik counters with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lakanik takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Givens ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lakanik moves away.
Lakanik throws an off balance right hand
and Givens counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Givens shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lakanik napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lakanik is trying to get back to half guard.

Givens is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lakanik is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lakanik avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Givens.
Givens cracks Lakanik with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Givens landing strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lakanik is trying to get back to his feet.
Givens lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lakanik tries to improve position but can't.
Lakanik is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Givens prevents Lakanik from standing back up.
Lakanik slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Givens landing some decent shots from guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Givens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Givens trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lakanik is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Givens working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lakanik avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lakanik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Givens stops Lakanik from standing up.
Givens is standing up over Lakanik. Lakanik looks to escape but Givens dives into side control.

Givens is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lakanik knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Givens stands up.
Lakanik throws a leg kick that is checked
and Givens counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Givens is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lakanik.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raylan Givens dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Givens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lakanik as he avoids it easily.
Givens uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lakanik.
Lakanik throws a head kick that misses.
Givens stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lakanik.
Givens misses with a body punch
and Lakanik counters with a straight right hand.
Lakanik uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Givens.
Givens lands with a thumping leg kick.
Lakanik ducks under a wild hook from Givens.

Givens fails with a takedown attempt.

Givens gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lakanik to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Givens looking for subs off his back but Lakanik has passed one foot through into half guard.

Givens looking for submissions off his back.

Givens wants to improve his position but Lakanik is controlling well.
Lakanik working Givens over with strikes.
Givens is trying to maintain the position but Lakanik is very close to passing his half guard.

Givens manages to get to full guard.

Givens looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lakanik content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Givens has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Givens avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lakanik tries to stand but Givens is controlling from the bottom.
Givens bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lakanik's guard.
Givens cracks Lakanik with a solid left hand.
Lakanik looking for a sweep. Not yet Lakanik, not yet.
Lakanik wants to get back to his feet but Givens passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Lakanik dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Lakanik pulls out of a head kick attempt.
John Lakanik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lakanik throws a lazy head kick
and Givens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That kick from Lakanik tenderised Givens's leg. Givens is trying to keep his angry face on.
Lakanik misses with a low kick as Givens jumps back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Givens makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Lakanik really felt that one!

Givens swats away the attempt to clinch by Lakanik.
Lakanik falls off balance throwing a combination
and Givens counters with a slapping leg kick.
Lakanik stuffs the takedown.
Lakanik tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Lakanik feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Givens's calf.

Lakanik plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Lakanik shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lakanik looks to throw a body kick

and Givens counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lakanik's guard now.
Givens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lakanik works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Givens with a nice head shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Givens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lakanik can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lakanik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Givens swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lakanik is sitting in close to Givens's body. Givens has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lakanik is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lakanik is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Givens.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Raylan Givens!
