PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nintendo Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tha Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takada comes to the cage accompanied by Super Mario Bros Theme Soundtrack . Man has chosen lukenback texas as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tha Man was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Nintendo Takada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tha Man!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man ducks right into an uppercut from Takada.
Man moves in looking to clinch but Takada pushes him off.
A lazy body kick from Takada
and Man counters with a big head kick but Takada shrugs it off.
Takada throws a head kick that misses
and Man counters with a slapping leg kick.
Takada circles away from the clinch attempt.
Takada changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Man checks a leg kick nicely.
Takada displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Man throws out the jab.
Takada tries to score with a low kick but Man moves his leg out of the way.
Takada throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Man.
Man misses with a double jab
and Takada counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Takada lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Man has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Man and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A nice inside leg kick there by Takada. That's going to slow Man down.
Man sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Man lets loose with a powerful body kick. Takada will feel that in the morning.

Takada clinches up against the cage.
Man throws a knee to the head but misses.
Takada lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Takada goes for a takedown in the clinch but Man prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Takada has Man pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Man manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Takada cracks Man with a nice body shot.
Man scores with a shoulder strike.
Man throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Takada blocks it with crossed arms.
Takada changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Man fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nintendo Takada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Man lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Man moves out of range as Takada throws a body kick.
Takada misses with an uppercut
and Man connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Takada takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Takada.
Man misses with a lunging right hand
and Takada makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A head kick misses from Man.
Man tries to clinch up but Takada circles away and keeps his distance.
Takada misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Takada moves in looking to clinch but Man pushes him off.

Takada throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Man on the side of the head.
Takada misses with a low kick.
Takada fails with the takedown.
Man's corner calls for a 1-2. Man obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


It looks like Nintendo Takada has been cut.
Takada shoots in for a takedown but Man shows good takedown defense.
Takada looks for the body kick but Man saw that one coming.
Man takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Takada misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Takada looks to throw a body kick
enabling Man to counter with a crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Takada tries to score with a low kick but Man moves his leg out of the way.
Man scoring well with a low kick there.
Man is looking to clinch but Takada is avoiding it.
Man misses with a wild body shot.
Takada drops his hands momentarily and Man takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Tha Man is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Man throws an off balance right hand
and Takada counters with an outside leg kick.

Takada throws out a leg kick but Man moves out of range and Takada only half commits.
Man keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Takada changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Man looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Takada lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Man down.
Takada throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Takada working the ground and pound but Man is defending the strikes.
Man controls the position for a moment.
Man tries to bench press Takada off him but Takada keeps the position.
Takada tries to move into full mount but can't pass Man's legs.
Man is looking to regain half guard here but Takada keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takada tries for a kimura but Man is defending well.

The strikes coming from Takada are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Man is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Takada is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Takada has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Man avoids a series of strikes thrown by Takada.

Takada looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Man is in all sorts of trouble here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takada lands a big shot there that rocks Man but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Takada swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Man is now in Takada's guard. A big mistake from Takada there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tha Man will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Nintendo Takada's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Takada connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Some bone on bone action there as Man checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Man misses with a head kick.
Man misses with a kick to the body
and Takada counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Takada checks a low kick from Man.
Man throws out a powerful jab.
Man throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Takada stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nice takedown defense from Man. No joy for Takada on that attempt.
A solid body kick from Takada.
Horrible takedown by Takada or perhaps it was just good defense by Man which made him look bad.
Man tries to close the distance and clinch up but Takada swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Takada will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Takada counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Takada moves out of range of the body kick from Man.
Tha Man seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Takada lands a nice shot to the body.
Man throws a sloppy head kick

and Takada counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Takada wants to pass the guard but Man is defending well.
Takada sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Man defending well though.
Man has hold of Takada's hands but Takada slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Man is looking to get back to full guard here but Takada has managed to pass to side control instead.
Man is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Takada advances nicely into full mount.

Takada cracks Man with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Man is desperately trying to improve his position but Takada has a good base and remains in mount.
Man tries to improve his position but instead Takada has taken his back!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Takada looking for the choke from the back.
Takada is not going to allow Man to sit and survive in this position.
Man rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Man is breathing heavily.

Takada is trying to work for a kimura but Man is defending well.
Takada thows a huge punch but Man dodges it nicely.
Takada missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Takada not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Man wants to improve his position but Takada is controlling well.
Takada thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Takada maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Man could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Takada has cracked it and Man is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Takada!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nintendo Takada!
