Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julio Carona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miek Kejfje (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miek Kejfje will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julio Carona! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Miek Kejfje! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kejfje wants to clinch and Carona counters with a takedown into side control. Carona is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kejfje knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Carona in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carona remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Carona has knee on belly and moves into mount. Carona takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carona has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Kejfje really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carona. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carona's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Carona prevents Kejfje from getting the reversal. Carona looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Julio Carona just wasn't active enough. Carona clinches. Kejfje wants to stall.

Carona passes into half guard. Carona works his foot free and advances to mount. Carona lands a big elbow. Carona can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kejfje is looking to escape. Carona connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carona content just to control the position here. Carona has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carona stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kejfje closes the distance but Carona moves to the side and Carona counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Carona's corner is telling him to maintain position. Kejfje tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Julio Carona has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Carona blocks a head kick by Kejfje.
Carona throws a head kick that misses and Kejfje makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Carona really felt that one! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carona circles away from the clinch attempt and Carona moves into the clinch. Carona's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Kejfje tries to clinch but Carona moves away and Carona counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Carona tries to score a body lock takedown but Kejfje shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Carona tries for a takedown but Kejfje manages to get underhooks.
Kejfje is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carona is defending well for now. Stalling in the clinch from Carona.

Carona circles away from the clinch attempt and Carona counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carona. A head punch blocked on the inside by Carona. Carona wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julio Carona. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carona escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A swing and a miss from Kejfje.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kejfje closes the distance but Carona moves to the side so Carona counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kejfje not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kejfje working a defensive guard but Carona manages to pass into side control anyway.
Kejfje is trying to control Carona's posture but Carona avoids it. Carona trying to control the position but Kejfje is working away. Kejfje wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Carona is looking to take a break and control but Kejfje is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kejfje tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carona wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Carona content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Kejfje struggling a bit here. Carona decides to take the fight back to the feet. Carona fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carona closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Kejfje tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carona wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Carona moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Kejfje is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Kejfje's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kejfje is trying to improve his position. That's four minutes gone in the round. Carona is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kejfje has escaped the position, nice work there. Carona in side control, throwing shots but Kejfje defends. Carona decides to take the fight back to the feet. A slapping leg kick lands for Kejfje.
Kejfje moves to clinch but Carona breaks away and Carona counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kejfje! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julio Carona dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Carona avoids the attempt from Kejfje to control. Carona is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kejfje can do to turn this around? Carona sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Kejfje blocking the ground and pound. Julio Carona overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kejfje is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carona get's back to his feet. A head kick misses from Carona. Kejfje tries to clinch and Carona decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kejfje's guard. Kejfje tries to land a sweep but no joy. Carona content to stall in guard here. Kejfje is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carona passes easily into side control. Nice work. Carona tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carona has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Carona has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Miek Kejfje is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carona showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kejfje.
Miek Kejfje has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Julio Carona is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kejfje misses the shot to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Julio Carona showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carona, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
