Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Max Frisch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturo Caldeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Frisch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arturo Caldeira!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldeira fails with the takedown
and Frisch makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Caldeira really felt that one!
Caldeira looks gassed!

Frisch pushes Caldeira up against the cage in a clinch.
Frisch with a knee to the head.


It looks like Arturo Caldeira has been cut.

Frisch breaks from the clinch.

Frisch shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Frisch stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Frisch clinches up with Caldeira and pushes him back against the cage.
Caldeira gets underhooks to prevent Frisch's takedown attempt.
Frisch will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Caldeira up against the cage.
Caldeira tries to land knees in the clinch but Frisch avoids the damage to the body.

Frisch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Frisch throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frisch tries to score a power double leg takedown but Caldeira sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Frisch somewhat.

Frisch shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Caldeira is trying to escape the mount.
Frisch looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Caldeira is squirming around, avoiding Frisch's attempts to control the action.
Frisch is really struggling to control Caldeira but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frisch lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Frisch has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Caldeira's face.
Frisch has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Frisch stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Frisch closes the distance and clinches.
Caldeira can't find room to land a body shot as Frisch controls the action.
Caldeira is trying to break the clinch but Frisch has him pressed against the cage.

Frisch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Frisch fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Caldeira sprawls well initially but Frisch persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Caldeira actively working from the bottom here.

Frisch is working for a submission of some sort.
Frisch is keen to just control but Caldeira is a slippery customer.
Frisch wants to stand up but Caldeira manages to regain full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Frisch looking to sit in guard and control but Caldeira gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Caldeira thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Frisch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Caldeira is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Frisch dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Caldeira shoots and misses
and Frisch finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Caldeira stuffs the takedown.

Frisch has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nice body punch from Frisch - that landed with a thud.
Frisch has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Caldeira is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Frisch stalling.

Frisch breaks from the clinch.
Frisch shoots in looking for a takedown but Caldeira manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Frisch's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Frisch. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Frisch tries to keep at a distance but Caldeira has taken the fight into the clinch.
Frisch goes for a takedown in the clinch but Caldeira prevents it.

Caldeira manages to break the clinch.
Caldeira shoots and misses
and Frisch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Caldeira tries to clinch up

and Frisch counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Frisch wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Caldeira actively working from the bottom here.
Frisch wants to stand up but Caldeira is controlling the position.
Frisch is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Caldeira manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Frisch has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Caldeira is proving hard to escape from.

Caldeira looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Frisch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Caldeira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Frisch has managed to get both his arms back between Caldeira's legs - danger averted.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Frisch trying to control the position from guard on top but Caldeira is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Caldeira looking for a guillotine here but Frisch defends easily.
Frisch wants to control from the top but Caldeira keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Frisch throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Frisch trying to control the position from guard on top but Caldeira is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Frisch has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Caldeira to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Frisch is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Caldeira pulls down on the head and he's put Frisch to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Arturo Caldeira!
