Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Moritsugu Katsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Moritsugu Katsumoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyoto Machida! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machida shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Katsumoto throws a right hand that misses
and Machida counters with a head kick. Katsumoto misses with a hook to the body
and Machida makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Machida throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Katsumoto. Nice uppercut lands for Katsumoto. That snapped Machida's head back.
Katsumoto throws a low kick but Machida avoids it. Katsumoto misses with a wild combination.
Katsumoto misses with a double jab
and Machida counters with a head kick. Machida throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Machida has his takedown stuffed and Katsumoto cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Katsumoto misses with a hook
and Machida counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Machida. Machida wants to control from the top but Katsumoto keeps moving. Machida connects with a couple of short punches. Katsumoto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Katsumoto tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machida wants to get up but he can't break Katsumoto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Machida stands up over Katsumoto, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Machida wants to control from the top but Katsumoto keeps moving. Machida preventing the sweep. Machida distracts Katsumoto with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Katsumoto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Katsumoto is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Machida is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Machida throwing strikes but missing. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Machida is working Katsumoto over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Machida works over Katsumoto with some ground and pound from guard. Katsumoto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Machida stands up over Katsumoto, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Machida trying to control the position from guard on top but Katsumoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Katsumoto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Machida drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Machida jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Machida drops back looking for a leg! Katsumoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Katsumoto manages to kick Machida off! Machida jumps back into Katsumoto's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Machida works over Katsumoto with some ground and pound from guard. Machida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Katsumoto wants to sweep here but Machida controlling him for the moment. Machida slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lyoto Machida dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Katsumoto throws a front kick aimed at Machida's knee but Machida avoids it well. Katsumoto scores with a decent looking hook. Machida misses with a takedown attempt and Katsumoto counters with a leg kick. Katsumoto swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Machida. Katsumoto misses with a two punch combination.
Katsumoto throws a lazy uppercut
and Machida counters with a body kick that stops Katsumoto in his tracks momentarily. Machida throws a one two combo.
Machida gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Machida takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Katsumoto lands a nice shot that snaps Machida's head back.
Katsumoto could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Katsumoto takes a swing at Machida's ribcage but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katsumoto throws a nice inside leg kick. Katsumoto leaves Machida with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Moritsugu Katsumoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Machida. Katsumoto misses with a left hand and Machida counters with a one-two to the body. Machida shoots for a takedown but Katsumoto saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Machida is breathing heavily. Machida drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Moritsugu Katsumoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Katsumoto stalks Machida and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Machida's face. Machida staggers backwards, shaken. Moritsugu Katsumoto is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fighters circling - Katsumoto throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Machida tries for a takedown but Katsumoto circles away easily and Katsumoto counters with a nice uppercut. Machida on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Katsumoto misses with an uppercut. Machida saw that one coming. Katsumoto cracks the inside of Machida's front leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Katsumoto throws a body punch but Machida moves out of range. Katsumoto swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Katsumoto looks to throw the jab but Machida is out of range. Katsumoto throws a right hand that misses
and Machida counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Katsumoto is lucky that one didn't land flush. A low kick from Katsumoto misses and Machida counters with a big head kick but Katsumoto shrugs it off. Nice defenses there by Machida. Katsumoto jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
The fighters circling - Katsumoto throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Katsumoto jabbing away but nothing is landing. Machida takes one to the chin there. Machida tries for a takedown but Katsumoto circles away easily and Katsumoto makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Machida counters with a nice body kick. Machida uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Katsumoto. Katsumoto misses with a hook. Machida ducked under it nicely. Katsumoto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Katsumoto keeping moving, preventing Machida from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Katsumoto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Moritsugu Katsumoto dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Machida with a poor takedown and Katsumoto cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Katsumoto throws a chopping leg kick but Machida manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Katsumoto throws a jab when Machida was well out of range. Lyoto Machida is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Machida has his takedown stuffed and Katsumoto counters with an outside leg kick.
Katsumoto stuns Machida with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Katsumoto works Machida's body with a nice hook. Katsumoto throws a poor cross that misses
and Machida counters with a left and a right that stings Katsumoto. Katsumoto throws a hook but Machida avoids it easily. Katsumoto fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Katsumoto throws out a loose jab but Machida uses good head movement to avoid it. Katsumoto is looking to clinch. Machida takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katsumoto throws the left hand but Machida avoids the punch easily. Katsumoto wants to clinch up but Machida keeps it at a distance. Katsumoto thows a body shot but no joy. A looping hook to the body misses from Katsumoto. Machida does a little dance to reset his feet. Machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Katsumoto fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Machida manages to avoid it. Machida has his takedown stuffed and Katsumoto counters with a nice uppercut. Moritsugu Katsumoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Machida. Machida takes one to the side of the head.
Katsumoto throws a big shot that misses. Machida misses with a takedown attempt and Katsumoto counters with a right hand to the body. Katsumoto throws a hook to the side of Machida's head but Machida sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Katsumoto throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Katsumoto misses with an uppercut. Machida saw that one coming. Katsumoto swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Machida counters with a flying knee. Nice. Katsumoto lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Katsumoto. Katsumoto misses the shot to the body. Katsumoto bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Machida's head backwards. Katsumoto tries to clinch up but Machida circles away and keeps his distance. Machida checks a low kick from Katsumoto. Katsumoto throws a right hand that misses
and Machida counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Katsumoto is lucky that one didn't land flush. Katsumoto throws a right hand that misses
and Machida counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Machida throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
