1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Melvin The Young Assassin! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Melendez. The Young Assassin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Melendez circles away quickly and effectively. Some wild striking there from The Young Assassin.
Melendez with a nice cross. Good leg kick by Melendez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The Young Assassin lands a head kick!
Melendez closes this distance looking for a takedown but The Young Assassin circles away. The Young Assassin thows a leg kick but Melendez checks it and Melendez counters with a series of strikes. The Young Assassin will be more careful next time no doubt. The Young Assassin tries to sprawl but Melendez drives through with a takedown into half guard. Melendez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Melendez connects with a nice short shot to The Young Assassin's temple. Melendez passes the guard and advances to mount! This has been an exciting period of action! Melendez with a couple of short strikes. Melendez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The Young Assassin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melendez unloading with bombs! The Young Assassin taking shots to the head. Melendez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of The Young Assassin's face.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The Young Assassin tries to reverse the position but Melendez maintains control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Melendez is in the full mount, landing strikes. Melendez landing punches. Melendez lands with some strikes.
The Young Assassin is rocked! The Young Assassin takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Melendez's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
