PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Hamder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Harrison might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cut You Down. Hamder has chosen Madonna - Erotica as his entrance music. Jimmy Harrison has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Hamder!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamder takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Harrison shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hamder as he avoids it easily.
Hamder walks forward, straight into a front kick from Harrison.

Harrison feints and as Hamder raises his hands in defense, Harrison changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Harrison is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hamder wants to sweep here but Harrison controlling him for the moment.
Harrison is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hamder wants to stand but Harrison is controlling the position.
Hamder is trying to keep Harrison in close.

Hamder working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Harrison doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Harrison manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hamder wants to get back to his feet but Harrison is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hamder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Harrison fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Harrison tries to clinch but Hamder moves out of range.

Hamder stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Harrison drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hamder wants to stand and escape but Harrison is having none of it.
Hamder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Harrison is one step ahead there.
Hamder is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Harrison controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Harrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Hamder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harrison has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hamder uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Harrison takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Harrison looks for a takedown but Hamder sprawls well.
Harrison shoots in but no luck this time.
Hamder throws a nice outside leg kick.
Harrison lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Harrison.

A choreographed right hand from Hamder misses the target.
Hamder waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Harrison.

Harrison decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harrison lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hamder is trying to stand up here but Harrison is controlling him well.
Hamder pushes Harrison off but Harrison dives into side control.
Harrison is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hamder's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hamder stops Harrison from passing to mount.
Harrison controls the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hamder tries to escape but Harrison is in control.
Hamder trying to remain calm as Harrison controls from the top position.
Hamder manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harrison shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Harrison showed some decent athleticism there.
Still in half guard, Harrison seems content to control.
Harrison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hamder on the ground.
Hamder looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jimmy Harrison just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hamder bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Harrison's head.

Harrison feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Harrison is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hamder will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hamder is trying to break free.
Harrison just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jimmy Harrison just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Harrison throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hamder's waist but Hamder gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harrison off to one side.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hamder.

Harrison will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hamder has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harrison can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Harrison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Jack Hamder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Harrison has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
