PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simo Hovari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Court McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hovari fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hovari looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hovari shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McGee defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simo Hovari. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGee doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hovari counters with a shoot takedown. McGee fights it but they end up in guard.
McGee looks gassed!
Hovari passes into half guard.
Hovari seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McGee does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hovari tries to pass to full mount but McGee defends it.

Hovari is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McGee is just riding it out for now. Hovari eventually gives up the hold.

Hovari is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hovari wants to pass to mount but McGee is defending the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hovari is looking to take a break and control but McGee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McGee is not content to let Hovari control the position.
Hovari is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McGee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

McGee is not content to let Hovari control the position.

Hovari has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Simo Hovari overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

No joy there for Hovari, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hovari closes the distance and clinches up with McGee, looking for a takedown. Hovari pushes McGee against the cage but McGee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McGee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McGee avoids the head kick by Hovari.
Hovari shoots in for a takedown but McGee shows good takedown defense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGee gets tackled into the cage by Hovari. Hovari maintains the clinch.

Hovari's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hovari closes the distance and clinches up with McGee, looking for a takedown. Hovari pushes McGee against the cage but McGee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

McGee shoots in and drives through. Hovari sprawls well.

Hovari lands a nice knee to the body.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Hovari for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Hovari scores with an uppercut up the middle.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Hovari is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGee pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hovari breaks from the clinch.
McGee wants to clinch up but Hovari keeps it at a distance.

Hovari moves into the clinch successfully.
Hovari is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McGee gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hovari goes for a takedown in the clinch but McGee prevents it.

Simo Hovari showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hovari, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
