PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Antoine Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hawke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wallace comes to the cage accompanied by Clubbed To Death by Rob Dougan. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Hawke was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antoine Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Hawke!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawke with a poor takedown

and Wallace decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hawke's guard.

Hawke has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wallace is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hawke.

Hawke tries to bench press Wallace off him but Wallace keeps the position.

Wallace tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wallace has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hawke takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antoine Wallace dominated that round.
That's time! Wallace's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Wallace and Hawke goes tumbling to the canvas! Wallace follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


Hawke is rocked!
Antoine Wallace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hawke is still in real trouble! Can Wallace finish him?
Wallace thows a huge punch but Hawke dodges it nicely.
Hawke seems to have recovered his senses.
Wallace not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wallace slips a nice elbow through Hawke's hands, connecting with Hawke's forehead.

Wallace is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Wallace wants to take a breather but Hawke is having none of it.
Wallace drops an elbow to the side of Hawke's head.
Wallace uses his free foot to push down on Hawke's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hawke.

Wallace takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hawke is breathing heavily.
Wallace lands a big shot to the head and Hawke winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
