Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scuba Stevesss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brooks Banner! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevesss is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Banner's half guard. Stevesss slips a nice elbow through Banner's hands, connecting with Banner's forehead. Stevesss scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Stevesss keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Banner trying to control but Stevesss postures up.
Banner is defending against the submission attempts here by Stevesss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Banner regains full guard. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Banner looks gassed! Stevesss working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Banner's head. Stevesss is in close to Banner's body, working some short punches and elbows. Stevesss scoring with punches to the head and body. Stevesss trying to control but Banner is working from the bottom. Stevesss has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevesss stands up over Banner, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Stevesss passes Banner's left leg - he's now in half guard. Banner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Banner is trying to get back to full guard. Stevesss seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Banner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Stevesss sitting and controlling from the half guard. Stevesss wants to free his trapped foot but Banner is holding on for dear life with his legs. Banner wants to control but Stevesss is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Scuba Stevesss. Stevesss drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Stevesss gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Stevesss scores with a takedown into Banner's guard. Stevesss drops back looking for a leg! Banner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Banner manages to kick Stevesss off! Stevesss jumps back into Banner's guard. Stevesss controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Stevesss is in close to Banner's body, working some short punches and elbows. Stevesss trying to control the position from guard on top but Banner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Banner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stevesss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Stevesss is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banner keeping moving, preventing Stevesss from controlling successfully. Stevesss preventing the sweep.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Scuba Stevesss wasn't doing enough on the ground. Stevesss shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Banner's guard. Stevesss forces his way into half guard. Stevesss trying to control the pace. Stevesss scoring with strikes to the body and head. Stevesss prevents Banner from standing back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stevesss in particular looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Banner misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Stevesss stands up out of the half guard. Stevesss closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Stevesss looks up at the clock and then as Banner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stevesss smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Stevesss is staying tight to Banner's torso, preventing him from escaping. Stevesss trying to control the action but Banner is working from the bottom. Banner is looking to reverse the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Banner tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Stevesss easily slips into full mount! Stevesss working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Banner turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Stevesss off and cradles Banner's limp body as Stevesss celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Scuba Stevesss!
