The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bruiser closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kalanakino did well to prevent Bruiser getting side control. Bruiser wants to take a breather but Kalanakino is having none of it. Bruiser not landing any meaningful shots this time. Bruiser trying to control from half guard but Kalanakino is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bruiser not landing any meaningful shots this time. Bruiser misses with a head shot. Kalanakino uses the momentum to regain guard. Bruiser trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bruiser drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kalanakino looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kalanakino looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kalanakino! Kalanakino trying to control the action but Bruiser is working from the bottom. Bruiser parries the strikes from Kalanakino easily there. Kalanakino is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bruiser to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Kalanakino. Kalanakino goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bruiser has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kalanakino but great work by Bruiser . Kalanakino manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Kalanakino looking for submissions off his back. Bruiser is keen to just control but Kalanakino is a slippery customer. Bruiser is trying to work for a kimura but Kalanakino is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Bruiser throwing shots but Kalanakino is blocking nicely. Bruiser seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Kalanakino has recovered full guard. Bruiser pushes down on Kalanakino's leg and manages to get into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bruiser thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Kalanakino to regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kalanakino tries to clinch up. Bruiser looking to score a takedown here. Kalanakino is defending well but Bruiser drives through and ends up in Kalanakino's guard. Kalanakino keeping moving, preventing Bruiser from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bruiser might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kalanakino kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Bruiser wasn't active enough on the ground. Bruiser shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kalanakino manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Bruiser throws a strike but Kalanakino rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bruiser wants to sweep here but Kalanakino controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kalanakino trying to control the position from guard on top but Bruiser is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bruiser had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kalanakino defends it easily. Kalanakino looking to sit in guard and control but Bruiser gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Bruiser advances position into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bruiser tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. You can see the frustration on Kalanakino's face as Bruiser controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bruiser tries to advance position but instead Kalanakino slips a leg back in to half guard. Bruiser is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Kalanakino as he works his way to full guard.
Bruiser must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bruiser has gone for a leg lock! Kalanakino slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bruiser 's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kalanakino trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Bruiser showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Bruiser closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kalanakino to the mat! Kalanakino manages to get full guard. Bruiser postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kalanakino is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bruiser , into his guard. Bruiser looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kalanakino passes into half guard. Kalanakino is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bruiser has managed to free his arm - good work. Kalanakino frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kalanakino thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Kalanakino looking to ground and pound but Bruiser is blocking nicely. Kalanakino working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Bruiser looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Kalanakino! Submission of the night perhaps?
