Bateman slips under a jab from Gruffo.
Beno Gruffo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bateman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gruffo.
Gruffo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bateman connects with an inside leg kick.
Gruffo tries to clinch up
and Bateman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gruffo throws a right hand that misses
and Bateman counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Gruffo fails to land with a series of punches.
Gruffo thows a body shot but no joy.
Bateman pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bateman will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Gruffo tries to clinch but Bateman moves away
and Bateman counters with a nice right hand that sends Gruffo toppling to the canvas! Gruffo scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Bateman finish him?!
Gruffo is rocked!
It looks like Beno Gruffo has been cut.
Bateman is stalking Gruffo. Gruffo circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Bateman, and it's lights out! Gruffo really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
