PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Hazlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perry Winkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hazlett might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Crank that Travis Barker Remix. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dustin Hazlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Perry Winkle!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winkle with a nice cross.
Hazlett misses with a takedown attempt - Winkle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Winkle scoring well with a low kick there.
Winkle wants to clinch up but Hazlett keeps it at a distance.
Hazlett fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hazlett takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hazlett walks into a left hand.
Winkle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hazlett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jab, jab by Winkle - just one landing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hazlett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Winkle tries to avoid it but Hazlett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Winkle to the ground. Winkle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dustin Hazlett. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Winkle lands a right hook to the body.

Hazlett gets tackled into the cage by Winkle. Winkle maintains the clinch.
Winkle lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Winkle.
Winkle is leaning against Hazlett and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Hazlett jumps guard.

Hazlett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Winkle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Winkle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hazlett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Winkle wants to control from the top but Hazlett keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hazlett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Winkle controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Perry Winkle hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hazlett dives in and grabs Winkle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Winkle pushes down on Hazlett's head and hops out.
Perry Winkle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hazlett closes this distance looking for a takedown but Winkle circles away.
Hazlett takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Winkle gets tackled into the cage by Hazlett. Hazlett maintains the clinch.
Winkle scores with a shoulder strike.
Hazlett tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hazlett pulls Winkle into guard.
Winkle pushes down on Hazlett's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Winkle uses his free foot to push down on Hazlett's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hazlett.

Winkle jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hazlett is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hazlett and Winkle has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Winkle working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Hazlett prevents Winkle from improving position.

Winkle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hazlett keeps working.
Hazlett is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Winkle's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hazlett tries to roll over but Winkle keeps him under control.

Winkle is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hazlett has managed to free his arm - good work.
Winkle is thwarting Hazlett's attempts to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winkle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Perry Winkle dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Winkle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Winkle instigates a clinch.
Winkle misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hazlett tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Winkle smiles and moves away.
Hazlett will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Winkle lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hazlett's sensitive parts.

Hazlett on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hazlett on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Winkle. Winkle obviously looking to wear him down.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Winkle lands with a right hand.

Hazlett walks into a left hand.
Winkle lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Dustin Hazlett has been cut.
Dustin Hazlett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Winkle throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hazlett stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hazlett fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hazlett crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Winkle - the referee stops the clock and Hazlett gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Winkle. Hazlett manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Winkle keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


Hazlett is rocked!
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Winkle! This one is all over!
