Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Blicharz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Barry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pat Barry! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barry throws a lazy head kick and Blicharz counters with a one-two to the body. Blicharz looks to land a combination but Barry avoids it well. Blicharz lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Blicharz .
It looks like Pat Barry has been cut. Blicharz shoots in for a takedown but Barry shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Barry throws a head kick that misses. A head kick misses from Barry. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Barry throws a lazy head kick and Blicharz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Barry connects with an inside leg kick. Barry throws a head kick that misses. A right-left combo lands from Blicharz . Barry pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Blicharz throws a series of punches but Barry avoids them all with ease. Blicharz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barry sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Barry tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Blicharz is able to avoid easily. Barry lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Blicharz is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Blicharz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Barry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Blicharz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barry pinned against the cage. Barry gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Blicharz . That's going to take a lot out of him. Blicharz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Barry counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round. Blicharz fails with the takedown enabling Barry to counter with a crisp jab. Barry tries a head kick but it misses.
Barry lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Barry lands with a slapping head kick. Barry looks to land a body kick but Blicharz moved away. Blicharz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barry sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Blicharz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Barry circles away. A head kick misses from Barry. Blicharz dives in and grabs Barry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barry pushes down on Blicharz 's head and hops out. Barry throws a sloppy head kick and Blicharz moves out of range easily. Barry throws a head kick that misses. Barry pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Blicharz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Barry defends it nicely. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Blicharz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Barry moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Barry cracks Blicharz with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Barry tries a head kick but it misses.

Blicharz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Barry to the ground. Blicharz is now in Barry's guard. Blicharz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Blicharz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blicharz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Barry is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Blicharz has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Perhaps he should improve his position first. Blicharz has hold of Barry's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Barry tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Blicharz cranks the arm and Barry screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Barry, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Marcus Blicharz !
