Lapid fails to land with a series of punches.
Lapid misses with the combination.
Lapid throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Miheev stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lapid misses with a series of wild punches.
Lapid lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Miheev at a distance.
Lapid scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Miheev is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lapid lands a nice shot to the body.

Miheev avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lapid darts in trying to clinch
and Miheev counters with a single leg into guard. Lapid didn't expect that.

Lapid wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Miheev manages to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miheev stops Lapid from getting back to his feet.
Lapid wants to stand back up but Miheev manages to pass into side control.
Lapid is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Miheev asserts his dominance and retains side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Miheev could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Miheev moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Miheev has hold of Lapid's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lapid tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Miheev cranks the arm and Lapid screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lapid, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Valera Miheev!
