Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mixtli Azteca! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oakley Bark! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Azteca misses with a left hand and Bark decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Azteca's guard. Bark stopping the sweep attempt from Azteca. Bark looking to pass the guard. Bark postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Azteca controls Bark momentarily but Bark frees himself. Bark thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Azteca knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bark on the ground. Azteca utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bark passes Azteca's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Azteca on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Azteca tries to get out of the position. Azteca wants to improve his position but Bark is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Azteca is controlling Bark's trapped leg to prevent Bark from advancing to side control. Azteca tries to roll over but Bark keeps him under control. Bark missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bark works his way into side control. Azteca might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bark is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Azteca has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bark tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Bark wants to control but Azteca is keeping him busy. Azteca is trying to improve his position. Bark goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Azteca has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bark but great work by Azteca. Bark gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Bark looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Azteca is trying to control the action in half guard but Bark is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Bark manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Azteca preventing the sweep. Azteca sitting in guard, not really doing much. Bark is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Azteca rolls with it to try and escape but Bark cranks on the arm and Azteca is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
