Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maga Magomedov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thales Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thales Silva!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a takedown attempt

and Magomedov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.
Magomedov throws a big right hand that misses.
Magomedov trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
Magomedov tries to stand but Silva is controlling from the bottom.
Magomedov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Maga Magomedov just wasn't active enough.

Magomedov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Magomedov trying to control from half guard but Silva is working away.

Magomedov is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Magomedov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Magomedov wants to pass the guard but Silva is defending well.

Magomedov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily.
Magomedov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Silva knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Silva gets back to full guard.
Magomedov is pushing down on Silva's leg trying to pass to half guard. Silva is fighting to maintain full guard but Magomedov has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva tries to get to full guard but Magomedov has control of the leg.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Magomedov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Silva's head.
Magomedov tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Magomedov prevents Silva from improving his position.

Silva looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Magomedov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Silva's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Magomedov slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maga Magomedov dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Magomedov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Silva manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Magomedov is defending well.
Silva stops Magomedov from getting back to his feet.

Silva is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva passes the guard and advances to mount!
Magomedov tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Magomedov is on top in guard.

Magomedov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Silva is proving hard to escape from.
Magomedov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva keeping moving, preventing Magomedov from controlling successfully.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Maga Magomedov.
Magomedov has his takedown stuffed

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Magomedov didn't expect that.
Silva advances to half guard.

Silva is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Silva is pressing down on Magomedov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Magomedov is holding on for now.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Magomedov is defending well.

Silva is working for a kimura but Magomedov is defending it quite comfortably.
Maga Magomedov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Silva has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Magomedov defend it? Silva steps over the head and cranks it - Magomedov is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Silva!
