Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Brainson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timo Willing! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brainson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Willing counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Brainson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Willing is working away from the top position though. Brainson wants to control but Willing passes into side.
Brainson is looking to regain half guard here but Willing keeps moving and retains side control. Willing stands up. Willing closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Brainson is looking for a sweep. Brainson wants to control but Willing postures up. Brainson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Willing decides to stand back up. Willing steps back and let's Brainson get back to his feet.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Willing can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Willing is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Timo Willing wasn't active enough on the ground. Willing has taken the fight to the clinch.
