Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keastie Kannegaard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gianfranco Pagliera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pagliera shoots in but Kannegaard avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kannegaard scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Gianfranco Pagliera has been cut. Pagliera shoots in and drives through. Kannegaard sprawls well. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Kannegaard throws a poor cross that misses
and Pagliera counters with a thumping low kick. Pagliera tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kannegaard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pagliera somewhat. Keastie Kannegaard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gianfranco Pagliera. Kannegaard lands a nice looking body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kannegaard throws a good cross that connects.
Pagliera shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Pagliera seems to be working for a kimura but Kannegaard defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pagliera looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Pagliera is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pagliera is trying to control. Kannegaard wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kannegaard is concentrating on defense, preventing Pagliera from advancing position. Pagliera seems to be working for a kimura but Kannegaard defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Still in half guard, Pagliera seems content to control. Kannegaard is trying to maintain the position but Pagliera is very close to passing his half guard. Kannegaard wants to get back to full guard. Pagliera is thwarting Kannegaard's attempts to control the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Pagliera looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pagliera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Pagliera is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A close round but Gianfranco Pagliera will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Gianfranco Pagliera's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Pagliera has his takedown stuffed and Pagliera takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Kannegaard cracks a nice hook into Pagliera's ribs. Kannegaard scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pagliera doesn't seem bothered though. Pagliera fails with a takedown attempt. Pagliera shoots and misses and Kannegaard counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pagliera's knee momentarily. Keastie Kannegaard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gianfranco Pagliera.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pagliera gets the takedown into side control. Pagliera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kannegaard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Kannegaard is trying to get back to half guard. Who's going to make the next move? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kannegaard is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pagliera is working for a kimura but Kannegaard is defending it quite comfortably.
Kannegaard is trying to maintain the position but Pagliera is very close to passing his half guard. Pagliera is looking to take a break and control but Kannegaard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pagliera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

He's trying to wriggle out but Pagliera has cracked it and Kannegaard is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Pagliera!
