The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steele changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Steele instigates a clinch. A right hand to the body from Steele.
Steele managing to block the knees to the body from Mccaughan.
Mccaughan tries to circle away but Steele has him pinned against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Mccaughan. Steele scores with a shot to the side of Mccaughan's head. Still in the clinch, Steele scores with a nice short uppercut. A short right from Steele on the inside. Steele presses Mccaughan against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Mccaughan is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Steele lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Mccaughan lands a knee to the body.

Steele stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Steele lands a body punch. Steele lands a right hand. Steele works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Mccaughan being controlled here, momentarily. Mccaughan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steele keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mccaughan's head. Steele throwing strikes from guard but Mccaughan blocks nicely. Mccaughan wants to stand but Steele is controlling the position. Steele trying to control but Mccaughan is working from the bottom. Mccaughan is looking to stand up but Steele isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mccaughan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mccaughan keeping moving, preventing Steele from controlling successfully. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Steele passes Mccaughan's left leg - he's now in half guard. Mccaughan manages to escape and get back to his feet!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mccaughan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Steele throws out a powerful jab. Steele keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Mccaughan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Mccaughan throws a low kick but Steele moves out of range easily. Steele checks a leg kick nicely. Steele fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mccaughan tries to clinch but fails miserably and Steele counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mccaughan looks to clinch and Mccaughan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Mccaughan scores with a jab to the jaw. Mccaughan falls off balance throwing a combination
and Steele cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mccaughan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mccaughan throws a leg kick but Steele sees it coming and checks it nicely. Steele checks the leg kick nicely there.
Steele paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Mccaughan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steele manages to avoid it. Mccaughan misses with a jab to the body
and Steele counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Steele seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mccaughan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steele prevents Mccaughan from standing back up.
Steele throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Steele missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Steele seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mccaughan closes the distance looking to clinch and Steele counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Steele. Steele scoring with some ground and pound. Mccaughan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Steele. Steele throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Steele sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mccaughan's guard. Steele wants to work for an arm triangle but Mccaughan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Steele perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Steele wants to take a breather but Mccaughan is having none of it. Steele lands with a punch from half guard. Steele thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Steele trying to control the action but Mccaughan is working from the bottom. Steele has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Steele thows a huge punch but Mccaughan dodges it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mccaughan pushes Steele off looking to stand but Steele dives back in and keeps control.
Steele wants to free his trapped foot but Mccaughan is holding on for dear life with his legs. George Steele has got the better of the ground game so far. Steele wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mccaughan keeps working. Still in half guard, Steele seems content to control. Steele not landing any meaningful shots this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Steele showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Mccaughan swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Steele counters with a stiff right hand. Mccaughan staying out of range there. Mccaughan is looking to wear down Steele with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Mccaughan is looking to clinch but Steele is avoiding it.
Steele has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nice uppercut there from Steele. Mccaughan throws a nice inside leg kick. Steele rushes Mccaughan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Mccaughan trying to land knees to the body.
Mccaughan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Steele gets a double leg takedown into Mccaughan's guard. Steele working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Steele wants to control from the top but Mccaughan keeps moving. Steele is pushing down on Mccaughan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mccaughan is fighting to maintain full guard but Steele has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steele not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Mccaughan tries to kick Steele off but Steele keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Steele throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Steele thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mccaughan's head. Steele not landing any meaningful shots this time. Steele works his way into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Steele lands an elbow. Mccaughan is trying to buck Steele off. Steele is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mccaughan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Steele taking a break here but Mccaughan is having none of it and regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele throwing shots but Mccaughan is blocking nicely. Eric Mccaughan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mccaughan is trying to stand up here but Steele is controlling him well. Steele not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Steele sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mccaughan defending well though. Steele is trying to control. Mccaughan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Mccaughan is looking to escape. Steele trying to control from Mccaughan's half guard. Mccaughan has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Steele trying to control the position from guard on top but Mccaughan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Steele postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that's the end of the fight! George Steele comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Steele has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
